The Great Carradale Canter 2019

Due to the Covd19 pandemic this year’s Great Carradale Canter is not now taking place. The route will be the same exciting challenge as in previous years, both the 10k and the 5k races starting and finishing at Carradale Harbour. The course enjoys a hilly start on the local roads before heading for Carradale Bay and then forest roads, finally returning to the village across fields to Shore Road and back to the Harbour. The 5k run follows a similar route to the 10K but has short cut after the beach. A map will be included in the entrant pack to be emailed out to all participants.
The 5k course is actually 5.7k in length.

Photos from previous Canters can be seen on Facebook via this link.

RACE TIMING: Race timing will be carried out electronically by Keep it Simple Timing using ankle bands.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: Some of the 10k route is on public pathways. Participants are advised to use pavements where possible and avoid running on the road. There be no road closures during this event. The rest of the race will be off road over country paths and Carradale Bay beach. Depending on the weather the off road sections may be muddy under foot and people are advised to wear appropriate footwear. People are advised to be careful as the surfaces are uneven and may become slippery. Use of headphones will not be permitted during the race. ALL participants MUST follow directions from the Marshalls, Coast Guard and Police.

PARKING: There will be no parking at the harbour car park. Participants are advised to use the parking at the Primary School, at Port na Storm and at the Village Hall. These places will be clearly marked.

REFRESHMENTS: There be water stations available at Caravan Site Road (after the beach), Carradale Network Centre and at the finish line. Snacks will be available at the finish line for participants as well as a cash barbeque.
